† Efficiency

I am as clueless as these polar bears

I just spent 3 hours in the library writing a 3 page report. It doesn't sound too bad, right? Well, except that the report is on the topic that has already been presented by my group last week and I just had to pull words from the power point files to M$ word. Yet, this took me 3 hours, and I swear I was so focused on my task that I didn't waste any time on surfing the internet.

And how about at home where I constantly switch between browser windows and word? OMG, even I am too afraid to count how much time I can spend on a single A4 paper.

I have come to the realization that I am so inefficient when it comes down to doing homework and writing reports. I started asking my classmates on how much time they had spent on writing their reports today. And yes, just as I have suspected, I am spending too much time on a single task. That's not all, I am also not investing as much time as my fellow classmates on reading papers.

This really makes me sad. I am spending more time doing an half-ass job. I don't like the sound of that. I have never been a good writer all my life, but at least I used to be able to BS some seemingly meaningful but in reality meaningless crap in English onto my assignment sheets just to get by. Well, it worked and I graduated. I guess this skill doesn't get transfered to Japanese automatically.

It sucks to feel like I am behind the rest of class. I can blame it on my language skill...then I can't stop wondering how come I have improved so little in the past 6 months or so. I am not working hard, and I don't think I am working smart neither. I feel like I am getting dumber and dumber. Things just don't stay in my head anymore. I read and I forget. Hmmm.... A sign of aging? Damn, that's bad. I have to do something with the way I approach studying.
